Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2013 10 Year Old This remarkable unpeated Islay single malt champions the use of Bere barley, an ancient and notoriously difficult-to-yield heritage grain known for its profound depth of flavor. Distilled in 2013 and matured for 10 years in a carefully selected combination of first-fill ex-bourbon casks and European oak, this vintage release showcases the distillery's commitment to terroir and agronomy. The result is a texturally brilliant, malt-forward whisky that perfectly captures the pure, coastal essence of the Bruichladdich spirit.
Food Pairing: Freshly shucked oysters, pan-seared scallops in a lemon-herb butter, roasted poultry, and mild, creamy cheeses such as young Gouda or Havarti.
TASTING NOTES
A vibrant, bright golden hue in the glass, characterized by a remarkably viscous, robust, and creamy mouthfeel that beautifully coats the palate.
NOSE - Bright and floral, bursting with sweet malty notes, honeysuckle, crisp green apples, ripe peaches, and a delicate dusting of icing sugar mixed with a fresh sea breeze.
FINISH - Refreshing, long, and rich, leaving a lingering sweetness of barley sugar, creamy vanilla pod, zesty lemon peel, and a soft, maritime salinity.
SERVE - Best enjoyed neat to fully appreciate the unique, concentrated characteristics of the heritage grain, or with a single drop of water to open up deeper orchard fruit and floral layers.
