This accessible and full-bodied red wine originates from the United States, specifically from several premier vineyard sites across the state of California. Produced by Chuck Wagner, the owner and winemaker of the renowned Caymus Vineyards, Bonanza is a tribute to the 'bonanza' of quality Cabernet that can be found in overlooked parcels throughout the 'Golden State'. The Wagner family has a deep history in Napa Valley dating back to the 1850s, and their winemaking philosophy for this label emphasizes creating a delicious, consistent wine meant for the simple pleasure of daily enjoyment.
Wine Description
Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon presents a medium ruby red colour with a sophisticated sensory profile. The nose is nuanced, opening with scents of currants, dried roses, and fresh tilled soil, layered with hints of toasty oak and smoked meat. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and 'strikingly smooth', showcasing flavours of blueberries, blackberries, and luscious dark fruit paired with the warmth of vanilla and toasted bread. It is characterized by silky tannins and a long, mouth-watering finish that trails off with notes of unsweetened chocolate, coffee, and cassis. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon reached an alcohol content (ABV) of approximately 13.8%. While the Wagner family utilizes meticulous standards in their vineyard sourcing and fermentation, this specific bottling is not certified organic.
