Bigallet Dessertine L'Intense is a French herbal liqueur crafted by the historic Bigallet distillery, a company renowned for producing exceptional botanical spirits since 1875. As an elevated and more robust variation of their flagship Dessertine l'Originale, this intense spirit is meticulously crafted by distilling a secret bouquet of more than 20 aromatic plants, roots, and spices. Following distillation, the liquid undergoes a crucial aging process for several months in oak barrels, which develops its complex character and results in a vibrant, shiny green color and a potent 43% alcohol by volume. Because of its high proof, deep botanical complexity, and rich, honey-forward sweetness, it is frequently compared to the world-famous Green Chartreuse.
The tasting experience delivers a powerful yet balanced profile, with an aromatic punch of fresh herbs, wild flowers, and subtle mint. Traditionally enjoyed as an after-dinner digestif, it can be sipped neat at room temperature to settle a meal, or poured over a large ice cube to subtly mellow the alcohol heat and unlock its deep floral aromas. Additionally, its high-character botanical notes and striking visual presence make it an outstanding choice for modern mixology, serving as an excellent modifier or substitute for our favorite monastic green herbal liqueur in classic cocktail variations.
