Benromach 22 Year Old Small Batch Edition #1 is an inaugural limited-release single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 2003 and matured for 22 years in hand-selected first-fill bourbon and sherry casks before being bottled at cask strength. As the first edition in Benromach's Small Batch series, this expression presents an exceptionally balanced marriage of rich red berry fruits, bright citrus zest, and classic oak warmth, framed by the distillery's signature touch of gentle peat smoke.
Food Pairing: Roasted venison, aged Gouda, dark chocolate raspberry tarts, or blue cheese.
Tasting Notes : Deep amber in color with a full-bodied, smooth, and coating mouthfeel on the palate.
Nose : Rich raspberry, strawberry, and cranberry aromas, followed by dried ginger, dark chocolate, intense orange marmalade, green apple, and a delicate backdrop of sweet smoke.
Palate : Smooth and sweet with stewed apple, rich Seville orange flavors, charred oak, and strawberry liquorice.
Finish : Medium-bodied and fruity with walnut, lingering warm spice, and subtle peat smoke.
Serve : Serve neat at room temperature in a Glencairn glass, or add a few drops of spring water to open up the fruity aromas and soften the cask strength intensity.
