The Contrasts range
The Contrasts range is where Benromach steps away from its Signature style to test one variable at a time, such as the barley, the oak, the distillation or the peat. Each release is a limited small batch, bottled at 46% ABV with natural colour.
The whisky
This release was double matured. The 2011 spirit spent its first seven years in a first-fill bourbon barrel, then its final five years in red Bordeaux wine casks, which Singapore importer La Maison du Whisky identifies as coming from Château Cissac. Bottled in 2023, it has a deep amber colour and Benromach's lightly peated character at around 12 PPM.
How to enjoy it
Serve it neat and give it a few minutes to open. It pairs well with red berries, duck or a cheese board, and a drop of water brings out the floral notes.
