Belle Glos is a renowned winery located in California's Napa Valley region. They specialize in producing high-quality Pinot Noir wines, and one of their notable offerings is the Belle Glos "Alturas" Pinot Noir.
- Origin: Alturas is one of the vineyard designations within the Belle Glos portfolio. It refers to a specific vineyard site located in the cool-climate region of the Sonoma Coast AVA (American Viticultural Area). This coastal region is known for its ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir grapes, with its proximity to the Pacific Ocean providing cool breezes and fog that help maintain the grapes' acidity and develop complex flavors.
- Process:Belle Glos Alturas Pinot Noir is made using handpicked grapes from carefully selected vineyard blocks within the Alturas vineyard. The wine is crafted to showcase the distinct characteristics of this particular vineyard site. It undergoes a meticulous winemaking process that involves small-lot fermentation and aging in French oak barrels to enhance its flavors and aromas.
- Taste Profile:In terms of taste profile, Belle Glos Alturas Pinot Noir typically exhibits rich and concentrated flavors with a bold and opulent style. The wine often displays intense dark fruit flavors such as black cherry and blackberry, along with hints of spice, vanilla, and oak. It tends to have a velvety texture, well-integrated tannins, and a long, smooth finish.
