Basil Hayden Malted Rye is made from 100% malted rye. Malting means the grain is sprouted and dried before it's used. That softens rye's usual bite and makes this whiskey surprisingly smooth. You’ll still notice gentle rye spice up front. Light caramel and oak follow, with a soft sweetness that rounds out each sip.
On the nose, you get caramel, vanilla, and a dash of cinnamon. A light hint of oak sits underneath. When you taste it, the flavors open slowly. Cinnamon, vanilla, and toasted rye bread mingle together. The finish is warm, with soft spice and a hint of chocolate.
This whiskey pairs well with rich foods. Try it with roasted meats, aged cheeses, or spiced desserts. You’ll see how it lifts every bite.
Basil Hayden Malted Rye is for anyone who enjoys a gentle, layered whiskey. Rye lovers and bourbon fans alike will like its mix of spice and sweetness. It is bottled at an easy 80 proof. If you want a bold, spicy rye, this may feel softer than you expect. If you like a smooth, flavorful pour, it’s well worth a try.
