Arran Single Malt Scotch Whisky 18 Years Old is a well-aged single malt from the Isle of Arran. It is made at the Lochranza distillery, on the island off Scotland's west coast. The whisky spends 18 years maturing in sherry casks. These are barrels that once held sherry wine. They add richness, sweetness and dried fruit. It is bottled at 46% ABV for a fuller flavor.
The nose opens with orchard fruit, citrus and toasted oak. On the palate, you find caramelised orange and dark chocolate. Vanilla, dried fruit and gentle spice follow. The texture is rich and full. Fruit, sweetness and oak stay in good balance from start to end.
The finish is long and lingering. Dried fruit, spice and oak stay with you after each sip. Pour it neat first. Then add a few drops of water and see how the aroma opens up. This is a whisky to sip slowly and share on special nights. It also makes a fine gift for any Scotch lover.
