This wine is from Argentina, originating in the Mendoza region, with grapes often sourced from subregions like Alto Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo. Bodega Argento, established in 1998, has consistently built a reputation over the past two decades for producing fresh wines that express the unique terroir of Mendoza, which is defined by its semi-arid climate, alluvial soils, and high altitude at the foothills of the Andes. The winery, which is owned by Alejandro Bulgheroni, is dedicated to sustainable production and is one of Argentina’s largest organic growers, with a philosophy of minimal intervention and a focus on fruit purity and vibrancy.
Wine Description
The Argento Cabernet Franc Reserva typically displays a delicate ruby or deep ruby colour. The aromatic profile is vibrant, showcasing notes of cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant leaf, often with additional complexity from herbal spice, black pepper, and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is rich and often described as medium to full bodied, with flavours of ripe red and black fruits like cassis, blackberry, and plum. It possesses sweet, polished, and sometimes chalky or chewy tannins that provide structure, balanced by good acidity that maintains freshness and leads to a long finish. The varietal composition is 100% Cabernet Franc. The wine's alcohol by volume (ABV) is approximately 14% to 14.5%. The wine is crafted from certified organic grapes, and the winemaking includes ageing in French oak barrels.
