Ardbeg Vintage_Y2K 24 Year Old is an exceptionally limited Islay single malt created from spirit distilled in 2000, during a pivotal period following Ardbeg's revival. The second release in the Vintage_Y2K series, it matured for 24 years primarily in bourbon casks, with a portion transferred to Amontillado sherry casks for finishing—a first for Ardbeg. Bottled at 47.8% ABV and non-chill filtered, it combines mature Islay smoke with rich toffee, nuts, dark fruit and warming spice.
Food Pairing: Pair with smoked beef, roasted lamb, aged hard cheeses, toasted almonds, dark chocolate or rich fruitcake.
Tasting Notes: Deep and aromatic with mature peat smoke, creamy sweetness, dark fruit, leather, nuts and earthy complexity, followed by powerful smoke and warming spice.
Nose: Creamy toffee and blackcurrant mingle with creosote, coal-tar notes, antique leather and almonds, developing charcoal, graphite, damp moss and soot with water.
Palate: Powerful and smoky with coal tar, woodsmoke and bonfire embers balanced by subtle toffee, leather, cinnamon and clove.
Finish: Long and lingering with menthol, eucalyptus, charcoal and persistent mature smoke.
