Ardbeg Uigeadail — pronounced "oog-a-dal" and named after the remote, peat-dark loch that supplies Ardbeg Distillery with its water — is widely regarded as one of the greatest whiskies in the world. A perennial award-winner and a benchmark for the marriage of peat and sherry, Uigeadail is a non-chill filtered, natural color expression that showcases Ardbeg's spirit at its most complex and rewarding.
Crafted by marrying younger ex-bourbon cask whisky with older ex-oloroso sherry cask reserves, Uigeadail achieves a depth and richness that is nothing short of extraordinary. The nose is a captivating contradiction — waves of rich, dark sherry fruit (raisin, dried fig, dark cherry) collide with Ardbeg's fierce medicinal peat smoke, creating an aroma that is simultaneously brooding and inviting. Coffee, dark chocolate, and a hint of leather add further intrigue. On the palate, the full proof delivery is bold and warming: espresso, Christmas cake spice, smoked meat, and treacle unfold in waves, underpinned by a velvety, almost syrupy texture. The finish is immense — endlessly long, smoky, and sweet, with dark fruit and peat smoke fading in a slow, magnificent crescendo.
Uigeadail is not just a whisky — it is an experience. One of Islay's most celebrated and sought-after expressions.
