Privada Storytelling
Born of grit, muscle, and misunderstood brilliance, the American Bully is a tribute to the misunderstood champions of both the canine and cigar world. Crafted at AJ Fernandez’s Tabacalera Annex factory in Estelí, this Privada exclusive channels raw power with refined balance. Like the breed it's named after, it may appear aggressive at first glance, but beneath the muscular exterior is complexity, loyalty to the craft, and undeniable charm.
Wrapped in oily Mexican San Andrés and filled with aged Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos, this cigar was built for those who aren’t afraid to stand out. It barks with strength but never bites—delivering a layered, slow-burning experience that transitions between robust and smooth with a kind of streetwise elegance.
This is not just a cigar; it’s a declaration. A flex for the bold, the misunderstood, and the loyal few who know that strength and sophistication can—and should—coexist.
Flavor Journey
From the first puff, American Bully delivers molasses and dark cocoa with a dry pepper kick through the retrohale. The middle third opens with roasted nuts and bitter cherry wrapped in savory umami, while leather and charred oak usher in the final third, bringing earth and spice in unison with a black coffee finish. Retrohales sharpen and soften with pacing, rewarding patience with complexity.
Why It Belongs in Privada
This is the kind of cigar that would never make it to mainstream shelves. Too bold, too rich, too unapologetically itself. But in the hands of Privada, it becomes a statement piece—a rare collaboration between authenticity and aggression. This cigar reflects what Privada stands for: the brave, the boutique, the beautifully imperfect. A cigar for those who know what it means to be misunderstood, and proudly so.
Production Notes
American Bully was rolled in a single small batch at the Tabacalera Annex facility, which AJ Fernandez created specifically to produce limited runs for boutique partners. The blend was initially developed as a house favorite but was never greenlit for mass production until Privada discovered its potential. Production was capped and allocated exclusively through Limited Cigar Association retailers.
