The Eiroa family are masters of the Corojo leaf, a tobacco that is notoriously difficult to cultivate outside of Cuba. Yet tucked away in the fertile Jamastran Valley of Honduras, Julio R. Eiroa and his family have unlocked how to grow Corojo tobacco outside of Cuba and allowed it to thrive. Their Honduran-grown Authentic Corojo leaf is displayed in all its glory with Julio R. Eiroa’s Aladino Corojo Gordo.
The Aladino Corojo Gordo is a massive 6 ½” x 60 stick constructed by hand at Fabrica de Puros Aladino in Las Lomas, Honduras. Authentic Corojo leaves from Eiroa-owned farms in the lush Jamastran Valley make up the alluring cigar’s binder, filler, and wrapper.
The Aladino Corojo Gordo is a velvety, medium-bodied smoke rich in texture yet smooth to the last. A complex mixture of earth, pepper, cedar, floral, spice, leather, and oak flavors forms the voluptuous heart of the smoke. A sweet and nutty undertone builds on the complexity, with nougat and cinnamon rising to the forefront. The finish is sweet and spicy, with a bold flourish closing it out.
The Aladino Corojo Gordo and other smokes in Eiroa’s growing JRE Tobacco range reinforce the Eiroa family’s place amongst cigar industry legends. In addition, the Corojo Puro demonstrates Honduran Corojo tobacco’s value to cigar aficionados searching for classic Cuban-esque smokes catered to modern sensibilities.
