This wine hails from Italy, specifically from Umbria in the Todi area, a historic town known for its medieval charm and rich viticultural heritage. Agri Segretum is a small family-run estate committed to organic farming and minimal intervention, allowing the unique terroir of their vineyards to express itself fully. The winery is dedicated to crafting wines that capture the essence of Umbria, blending tradition with a respect for the environment.
Wine Description
The Marmocchio Rosso displays a deep ruby hue with lively garnet reflections. On the nose, it offers an inviting bouquet of ripe red cherries, plums, and subtle hints of wild herbs, interwoven with delicate notes of sweet spices and earth. The palate is medium-bodied yet structured, featuring a vibrant acidity that brings freshness to the rich fruit flavours. Silky tannins lead to a persistent finish marked by nuances of tobacco and mineral undertones. This wine is crafted primarily from Sangiovese, with small additions of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, contributing to its layered complexity.
Food Pairing
Pair this elegant Umbrian red with grilled lamb chops seasoned with rosemary, or a hearty wild boar ragu over pappardelle. Mature cheeses like Pecorino also complement its savoury depth beautifully. Together, they create an unforgettable dining experience.
