On a cold, snowy day in Louisville, surrounded by the eclectic energy of the Woodwork Collective, we tasted something that instantly transported us back in time. The moment it hit the palate, it was cotton candy, caramelized sweetness, rose water, and childhood wonder. Someone muttered, "Candy Shop," and the name stuck.
This isn’t just another bourbon. This 11-year-old, cask-strength Indiana whiskey is crafted from a rare 99% corn mash bill. It delivers an explosively sweet nose that leads into rich caramel, cocoa, and luscious seasoned oak. The finish is long and elegant, leaving behind layers of spice, buttery sweetness, and just the right touch of dry oak.
Blind-tasting this barrel at Woodwork Collective left us stunned. None of us guessed its mash bill, but we all agreed—it had to be ours.
Tasting Notes: On the nose, delicate oak, sugared maple cream, and layers of marzipan stretch endlessly, with a sprig of spearmint adding a crisp, almost piquant touch. Upon entry, deep-cellared barrel notes meet intense spearmint, luscious cream, and vanilla, with a bright hint of mango lassi. The mid-palate dazzles with warm, rich cotton candy and tutti-frutti, reaching a peak of layered sweetness. As the experience fades, forest-fresh oak and subtle cellar notes return, culminating in a bold, spiced-oak crescendo—an almost electric burst of seasoned wood that lingers for days.
