Four Roses builds ten bourbon recipes from two mashbills crossed with five proprietary yeast strains. A Private Selection takes one barrel of one recipe and bottles it uncut, so nothing about the release repeats — recipe, age and proof change with every cask.
OESV pairs the E mashbill — 75% corn, 20% rye, 5% malted barley — with the V yeast strain. Four Roses describes it as the most subtle of the ten: delicate fruit and caramel, pear and apricot balanced against corn and rye rather than heavy spice. It's the recipe most often held back for long aging, and fifteen years and seven months is well beyond where most Private Selection barrels are dumped.
